Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds – Laptop Review

The Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds is rather expensive. It also boasts to have some of the best capabilities and features in computer history. What does it really offer?
The Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds, as one of the Quad Core Laptops, claims to have some of the best features and capabilities in computer history, but it also comes with a hefty price tag. In return, what can one expect?

Specifications:
2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)17? WUXGA 400NIT TFT+10.6?WXGA+ TFTGenuine Windows Vista Business
Pros:
The price of the Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds can turn off a lot of potential buyers. Thus Lenovo put in a lot of features so that it will be worth your while. For example, one of the things you’ll notice is that it has a “ds” tag. Well, the W700ds has a dual-screen capability. Of course it is also available in single-screen, but why settle for such right?
The W700ds offers comfort which a lot of users are looking for. The keyboard is very good, very responsive and requires less effort to press.
The netbook also has a digitizer which makes it very handy for artists or people who are into graphic designs. The digitizer allows users to draw digital art. It can also produce digital signatures that you can use for online transactions.
Let’s not forget the display capabilities, which are excellent. The colors are vibrant and cover 72% of the colors in Adobe’s RGB space. This is another great feature from Lenovo. It allows us to watch movies or view pictures with greater color quality.
Cons:
Lenovo took great care to include a lot of features, one of which was the dual-screen. This however has lately become a weakness. It is smaller than the primary monitor but it doesn’t have the capabilities of the main screen. Users for one will wonder later what the whole point to the dual screen was. Still, one can use the second display to use as a docking area for the tools while the workspace is still with the main monitor.
The digitizer is a very helpful tool. The pen though is a disappointment. It is very small, making it difficult to use if you have big hands. If you really want to use the digitizer, we suggest that you buy a stylus instead of relying solely on the default pen.
Much like the pen, the touchpad area is also very small. Its easy to use but may take some time getting used to.
Conclusion:
W700ds is a good buy for graphic designers and other professionals who require performance from a unit. Despite the price, it becomes immaterial when compared with the features available to the user. There are disadvantages but they are minimal.
