Lenovo Ideapad S10 – Netbook review

Lenovo wanted to cash in on this netbook boom so it came out with the IdeaPad S10. It used EeePC as its benchmark leading some to say that the IdeaPad S10 was an EeePC killer.
Two years ago, the Asus EeePC subnotebook entered the market. Immediately, buyers were attracted because of its low price, light weight, solid-state drive and Linux OS. Because of this, Asus EeePC’s were selling like hotcakes. Competitors had no other choice except to manufacture and market their own budget-priced subnotebooks.

As a result, the market was suddenly flooded with netbooks. They were small, light and inexpensive. The features were pretty basic and it allowed users to do general computing, web surfing and running rich Internet applications.
Processing power of the notebook is supplied by Intel Atom 1.6GHz and RAM capacity is between 512MB up to 1GB DDR2. The netbook comes with two USB ports and ExpressCard expansion slot and VGA output. A multi-card media reader (4-in-1) is also thrown in as an added feature. Its runs on Windows XP Home Edition.
Like other netbooks nowadays, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 comes in a range of different colors: black, blue, white, pink and red.

Pros:
The IdeaPad S10 is attractive and solidly built. Its outer case is done in a matte-finished plastic.
Cons:
The IdeaPad S10 tends to heat up faster than other notebooks. The limited battery life is also another problem.
Conclusion:
A lot of netbooks are being launched on the market. The IdeaPad’s combination of features in a packed slim chassis and its great price makes it a must buy. The IdeaPad is being recognized as the top sub-notebook in the market. However it faces stiff competition from new models that might just manage to elbow it out of the top.
